Apple Butter

Apple Butter is so versatile and so easy to make! Gather up Autumn’s bounty and make up a batch of apple butter in your slow cooker! It’s an easy process that you can have simmering all day- and BONUS, your house will smell great! You can cook it up and store in s small containers in the freezer, or give away to friends and family for a great Fall treat.

Recently I was on our local Fox television station sharing this very same recipe – with a little help from The Big Bad Wolf from our local Halloween festival, Legends and Lanterns.

Here are a few behind the scenes photos of what It’s like in the studio, as I get the set ready for the cameras. And….if making it isn’t your thing, you can always grab a ready made jar of Apple Butter from us! Try it on bagels, toast, pancakes, dolloped on baked pork chops, smeared on a slice of pork tenderloin, or atop pound cake and vanilla ice cream.

Place apple slices in a slow cooker. Stir sugar and apple pie spice with the apples. Cook on High for 4 hours; stir. Remove cover and continue cooking until the apples are very tender and most of the liquid has evaporated, 2 to 2 1/2 hours. Stir in the vanilla.

Blend apple butter with an immersion blender until smooth. Alternately, you can run the butter through a food mill or blend in a blender. Spoon the mixture into sterile containers, cover and refrigerate for up to two weeks or freeze
